Trip to DC continued...

Then, in the evening, we went to the Lincoln Memorial, which was absolutely breathtaking. It was too dark to take a non-blurry picture without a tripod, but I did manage to capture the incredible color of the sky.

Mr. Lincoln.

It was such a beautiful evening!

When we got back to the hotel, Mom made us salads and we watched The Sting. A terrific movie, that.

Photographer spotted.

The next day was rainy, cold, and miserable. But we went sightseeing some more none the less(all of us this time). We went to the Mall, the Capitol, and several museums.

A picture with the pool and statues in front of the Capitol.

Heh.

We were there the day they had their St. Patrick's Day parade.

The Air and Space Museum.

The mall, with the Capitol at one end, and the Washington Memorial at the other.

And, of course, I simply had to do a ballet picture. It's a must.

Then we went to the National Gallery. It was so beautiful, and so awe-inspiring seeing all that great Art. We counted the steps going up, but of course I don't remember now. I'll have to ask L.

Stopping for a presidential pose.

Inside, the atrium was just filled with the most beautiful flowers. It was truly magnificent.

On the way to the American Culture museum (where we only had time to go look at Lincoln's hat), we passed this lovely fellow, who was serenading passers-by with flute music, punctuated by squeaks from the chew toys he had dangling about. He gave us the nicest smile.

As we left the museum, we heard Snow White music coming out of nowhere. After searching, I found this:

Us in front of the main Smithsonian building.

Apparently, I rode this when I was very little.

Another beautiful Smithsonian building.

In the car, after a long weekend, ready to go home. The "after" picture.

And how do you get through a weekend of walking and sightseeing all over D.C. with terrible shinsplints, you may ask? Like this.

So, all in all, a marvelous trip.
